ALIVE

Goose-bumped gravel speckles the road,
trips the too smooth ride, and we pass
ports and piers, sturdy against sea-tossed air,
lines of anchored stability daring us to cruise,
ship, toss our cares aside
and launch into the water
to ensure we packed our lives.
